No need to cross a rich-tasting cheesy sauce off your list just 'cause you have diabetes. Our Light Cheddar Cheese Sauce is made with fat-free milk, so it's fine for using in your favorite dishes.

What You'll Need

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cup fat-free milk
  • 1/4 cup reduced-fat shredded Cheddar cheese

What to Do

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and cook about 2 minutes, stirring to combine. Do not brown.

  2. Add milk and heat until it boils, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and cook 2 to 3 minutes, or until sauce thickens. Add cheese and stir until it melts. Serve immediately.

10 1/4 cups milk ?? is that correct?

Oops! Thanks for catching that. It should be 1-1/4 cups of milk. The recipe has been revised to state the correct amount. Thanks again!
