Our lighter Tex-Mex Red Sauce is the perfect enchilada sauce for anyone who loves Mexican-style food. Packed with zesty south-of-the-border flavor, this one is easy as can be.

What You'll Need

  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced or pressed
  • 3 1/2 cups no-salt-added tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

What to Do

  1. Coat a medium nonstick saucepan with cooking spray. Over medium heat, cook onion and garlic until onion is clear and tender, stirring occasionally.

  2. Add tomato sauce and bring to a boil. Gradually stir in chili powder, cumin, and oregano. Reduce heat to low and simmer 30 minutes.

Notes

You can make this sauce a bit spicier by adding additional chili powder, if you like.

30 1/2 cups no-salt-added tomato sauce ---Is this the right amount? Please verify.

Thanks for catching that! We have corrected the recipe. It should only be 3-1/2 cups of no-salt-added tomato sauce. Enjoy!
