COOK TIME

There's nothin' fancy about our Simply Spinach recipe, but just like traditional mashed potatoes, sometimes simple is the best way to go.

What You'll Need

  • 1 (10-ounce) package fresh spinach, cleaned and trimmed
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

What to Do

  1. In a large pot, toss the spinach with the remaining ingredients.

  2. Cook over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the spinach leaves are wilted, stirring often. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Note: Most of the packaged spinach we buy today is pre-washed and ready to eat and cook, which sure saves us time. However, if your spinach isn't already prepped, you'll need to wash and trim it this way: Pull or cut off the stems, then immerse the leaves in cold water. Dry in a salad spinner or blot with paper towels, and you're ready to go!

I won't collect this recipe because I've been cooking spinach since I was a teen. This is one of my favorite vegetables. I love all things green. This is a good first time recipe for new cooks and one of my most fave ways to eat it. I also like it fried with onion or combined with mustard and/or turnip greens. YUM

I love spinach. This is the best way to fix it. Yes, the pre-washed and clean bags of spinach make it very easy. I also cook the pre-chopped spinach --- this is in the steam bags. thanks,
