American Pie Chicken

We've taken the classic flavors of apple pie and cheddar cheese to the next level by using them with chicken. Don't knock it until you try it. We think our American Pie Chicken is worthy of a salute!

What You'll Need

  • 4 (6-ounce) boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup apple butter
  • 1/4 cup (1 ounce) shredded Cheddar cheese

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 7- x 11-inch glass baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Place chicken in prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then spread apple butter evenly over each breast. Cover with aluminum foil and bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until juices run clear.
  3. Remove from oven and uncover. Sprinkle cheese evenly over top of chicken and return to oven. Bake, uncovered, 4 to 6 minutes, or until cheese is melted.


Apple butter can be found in the jelly and jam section of your supermarket. And, contrary to its name, it does not contain butter.
