What You'll Need

  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 1/4 cups reduced-sodium, fat-free chicken broth

What to Do

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook rice, onion, and garlic until rice is brown and onion is tender, stirring frequently.

  2. Stir in broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, about 1 hour. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, about 5 minutes. Fluff with fork.

Yes, you can make this recipe in the microwave. Just brown your rice and ingredients in step 1, then microwave according to the directions on the package. Enjoy!
