Here's the perfect dish to help celebrate Oktoberfest. Crispy autumn apples and red cabbage blend with a homemade sweet-and-sour sauce to make Oktoberfest Cabbage the perfect go-along for almost any hearty harvest-time main course.

What You'll Need

  • 1 head red cabbage, shredded
  • 2 apples, cored and chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

What to Do

  1. In a soup pot, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
