This crunchy cabbage salad is drenched in an Asian inspired dressing that has toasty hints of peanut, sesame and a delightful tang. Sesame Cabbage Salad is great with the dressing warm or chilled.

What You'll Need

  • 1 tablespoon peanut oil
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 head Napa or Chinese cabbage, washed and cut into bite-sized pieces

What to Do

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the peanut oil over medium heat. Add the sesame seeds and garlic and saut for 3 to 5 minutes, until the seeds are golden brown.

  2. Reduce the heat to medium-low; add the soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and canola oil, and cook for 2 more minutes.

  3. Place the cabbage in a large bowl and pour the warm dressing over it, tossing to coat completely. Serve immediately.
